Chelsea transfer target Erling Haaland reaches agreement to join Manchester City in the summer
According to Daily Mail Online (h/t Football.London), Chelsea linked Erling Haaland has reached an agreement with Manchester City over a move in the summer transfer window. This update would be a damning blow for the former, as they seem to have lost out on acquiring a generational talent.
Haaland has been long linked with a move to the Premier League, and a move finally appears to be on the cards. Man City have agreed to terms with him regarding a potential move this summer. They are ready to active the £63million release clause and will also offer him a five-year contract as part of the deal.
The Norwegian will also earn a massive £500,000-per-week in wages if this news is believed to be true. While the Blues have been linked with a move for the forward, their interest has waned over the past few months. Now the Citizens appear to have stolen a mark going by this information.
The 21-year-old has continued to perform at his usual best despite being hampered by constant injuries this season. He has scored 25 goals and assisted eight more from 28 matches across all competitions during this period.
The Bundesliga superstar would have been a great prospect to add to our attack since our centre-forwards have struggled to showcase their best form for quite a while. Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku have failed to meet expectations, which has caused concerns at Stamford Bridge.
Haaland would have been a great choice, but it seems that we have lost out on him after all. Not to mention, the current sanctions imposed on the West London side have not helped us in any case as it could potentially have played a part in our interest being cooled in recent months.
Man City potentially getting their hands on the Borussia Dortmund striker would be concerning, considering how our direct rivals would be boosted by a huge influx in the attacking quality. However, it seems wise that we have not signed Haaland looking at the massive dent it would have caused in our finances.

What’s more, Werner appears to have finally overcome his struggles, looking at how he has performed over the past few matches or so. Should he continue to improve on this trajectory, we may not need a new centre-forward signing after all.
Let’s hope that Lukaku continues on this pathway as well so that we would not need to endure further expenses on an area that we have invested in.
