According to Fichajes (h/t Football.London), Chelsea and Manchester City could lock horns for the signature of Brighton & Hove Albion rising star Kacper Kozlowski. Bayern Munich are also thought to be interested in his services at the moment.
The Seagulls signed Kozlowski for a fee of £8 million at the start of January from Pogon Szczecin. The Amex Stadium outfit then sent him out on loan to Royale Union St-Gilloise. The teenager has made 25 appearances so far, bagging three goals and five assists for the Belgian club across all competitions.
The Polish professional is majorly deployed as a central midfielder but has also played as a centre-forward as well as an attacking midfielder in this campaign. This goes to show the versatility that the teenager possesses. He is making a name for himself with impressive performances on the pitch and top clubs could come knocking on the door very soon.
The West Londoners have already created one of the most enticing youth systems in Europe. They have produced some great footballing talent at a consistent rate and are now thought to be eyeing Kacper Kozlowski. Our bitter rivals Man City have also registered their interest in the young attacker.
We have seen the Citizens splash huge sums of money should they really like a prospect. Hence a link to the Mancunian club could be a distressing sign should we be genuinely interested in securing his services. That being said, at 18, the Polish youngster still has a long way to go in his professional career.
He could even become the torchbearer of our midfield in the years to come if things fall into place. It is however a big ‘if’ and there are many factors that would have to go our way. It is also fair to say that taking a bet on a youngster is always a double-edged squad.
Their career could quickly get derailed due to a long-term injury or a drop in confidence. Despite that, it has been witnessed that Brighton’s recruitment has been nothing short of exemplary given their mediocre budget as opposed to some of the top clubs.
Hence one can understand why the top PL clubs are interested in his services. His youthful presence and composure on the ball could make him a potential world-beater one day. That being said, only time can predict whether or not he arrives at Stamford Bridge in the immediate future.
