Borussia Dortmund will not let Chelsea target Jude Bellingham leave this summer
According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports on Twitter (h/t Football.London), Borussia Dortmund will not let Chelsea target Jude Bellingham leave at the end of this season. He has earned quite a lot of plaudits for his performances at a young age, having become a regular at a young age for both club and country.
Thomas Tuchel is looking to add fresh blood to the Blues’ midfield, especially when N’Golo Kante and Jorginho have entered the twilight of their playing careers. What’s more, their contracts would also wind up after the next term giving more incentive to Tuchel to take that stance.
The West London side have expressed an interest to sign Bellingham from Dortmund as a result. However, they would have been dealt a blow by this latest update. Manchester United are also tracking the situation right now, but it appears that a summer move is not on the cards.
It is certainly understandable why the German coach wants to strengthen his midfield options under the current circumstances. After all, he would probably want to future proof his choices with upcoming superstars brimming with quality.
Bellingham could not be more perfect in that category as he has become the fulcrum of the midfield for England and BVB. That is a great feat indeed, considering how he has not even entered his 20s in his playing career.
However, it seems that we may not receive an opportunity to secure the Englishman’s signature following the revelation of the German side’s stance on a potential transfer. Perhaps we could get a chance in the future, but any move would probably be costly considering how he has earned quite a name for himself in Germany.
A move in the future would not be easy either if Man United remain interested in signing the 18-year-old. They are looking to rebuild under the new prospective manager, and signing Bellingham would certainly suit in that regard. For that reason, we will undoubtedly face heavy competition from their side.

We would likely need to make a large investment in the centre of the pitch to replace Jorginho and Kante moving forward. The Chelsea duo does play a crucial role in the current setup, and planning for life past them would not be easy at all.
But bringing in someone like Bellingham would go a long way to help to secure our future once the Blues duo eventually leaves. As such, let’s hope that the potential new owners realise the importance of backing Tuchel and give him the targets that he wants in the future.
