According to the Evening Standard, All three bidders want Marina Granovskaia and Bruce Buck to stay at Chelsea even after the takeover is complete. That is a crucial decision from the prospective owners’ side, especially when it comes to helping the club get through uncertain times after the sale.
The consortiums led by Todd Boehly, Sir Martin Broughton and Steve Pagliuca are adamant that they want to ensure stability and continuity at the West London club. They made that matter clear during the discussions they held with the club’s executives before the submission of the final offers.
All the parties are committed to providing Granovskaia with the necessary means to carry out her tasks. As for Buck, they want him to facilitate a smooth transition for the prospective new owners. While all bidders have their own respective ideas when it comes to changing the board, the duo remains a key cog in their plans.
It is still unknown whether the two Chelsea chiefs would want to stay with the Blues past this season or not. It is expected that a final decision on the new owners will be taken by at least next week, which means that we could get an early answer on the matter.
If that is the case, then the three potential bidders must try to do their best to convince the Blues duo regarding a prospective stay. We hope to see that happen as they have been a key part of our success over the last decade or so. Losing them could be detrimental, especially in this time of uncertainty.
It is unfortunate that we have been forced into this dire situation which has led to the ownership takeover. That being said, it is good to see that the three consortiums have the best interests of the club in their mind, which has prompted them to take the current stance.
US merchant bank Raine Group are in line to select the consortium that seems appropriate to their liking soon. Raine and Thomas Tuchel’s side have asked for further details from the bidders to help in taking the best possible decision.
Let’s hope to see an end to this sale process soon so that the club can finally return to their normal functioning. Whether a final decision will be made by this week or not remains to be seen.
