PSG offering Neymar to Barcelona may help Chelsea acquire Ousmane Dembele
According to Football London, PSG offering Brazilian superstar Neymar to Barcelona may help Chelsea acquire long time transfer target Ousmane Dembele in the summer.
Neymar who seems to have somewhat fallen out at PSG has apparently been offered to former club Barcelona. The Brazilian winger has not had the best of times at the French capital and may want to go back to Camp Nou and revive his career.
This may in turn help the Blues acquire French winger Ousmane Dembele on a free transfer come the summer, as he is yet to agree a new deal with the Catalan giants. Chelsea were keen on bringing the former Dortmund man to London in January and reuniting him with Thomas Tuchel, a move eventually did not materialize.
If Neymar was to join Barcelona, Dembele’s exit could be sealed with more competitions for the wing spot meaning lesser game time for the Frenchman. Chelsea would be hoping that the Frenchman choses to come to London then.
After years of injury struggles since his move to Barcelona, Dembele seems to have finally put his injury woes behind him, playing regularly and performing exceedingly well for Xavi’s team. At 24, the French World Cup winner has the prime years of his career ahead of him and the Blues, if they manage to get him, could have a serious player on their hands.
Where would Dembele play?
Chelsea already have a plethora of attacking options on his hand and there is no scarcity of options to play on the wing. Despite this, adding Dembele to the ranks will only increase their quality. When fit and in the mood, the Frenchman is one of the best wingers a team can have and having already coached him in Germany, Tuchel will know how to get the best out of the Barcelona forward.
He is versatile and could play as an inside-winger or wing-back in Tuchel’s 3-4-3 system and his two-footedness means he could play on either side without any issue.
While there is no doubting his unbelievable talent, the stumbling block would be his injury record at the Catalan club. Although his troubles seem to be behind him, Chelsea would be wary of the fact that the injury problems could surface again.

With Dembele, Tuchel already knows the player he will be getting having coached him before. However the current version of the Frenchman is different from the one that played in Germany. Chelsea still have a lot of issues to sort out with respect to administrative issues like the ownership change but if they manage to convince the Barcelona man to London, they could be getting their hands on a very exciting player.
