Transfer News: Chelsea loan Bryan Fiabema to Rosenborg
According to Evening Standard, Chelsea have agreed to loan Bryan Fiabema to Rosenborg for the entirety of the 2022 campaign. The season is set to run in this calendar year from spring to autumn and will kick off in just over a month.
Fiabema is the leading goalscorer of the U23 team in the Premier League 2 division, having scored ten goals from 34 matches. Despite that, the Blues have loaned him out to the Norwegian side, and the latter even has an option to make the temporary move permanent during that period.
The 19-year-old moved to Stamford Bridge from another Norwegian club Tromso back in February 2020. The loan deal would probably have been surprising to those who follow the talented youngsters within the Cobham academy, having watched him impress in the youth developmental squads.
Good move?
The West London club have parted with several talents over the years and we are hopeful that he will not be another one that got away. After all, we would not want to have a repeat of what had happened with the likes of Tino Livramento and Tariq Lamptey, who have gone on to become one of the top talents in the Premier League.
Even those graduates who went aboard like Tammy Abraham have fared well since moving to their current clubs. The entire details of Fiabema’s loan are still unknown at this moment, so it remains to be seen whether we have an option to get him back even if the optional clause is activated.
Considering how our centre-forward options like Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku are struggling to make a mark, one could argue that it would have been best to keep hold of Fiabema. After all, the Norwegian has been sensational in the youth system, and he could have played as an understudy in the first-team set-up.

That being said, we are hopeful that the Blues loanee can enjoy a great time in the Eliteserien for the 2022 calendar year. After all, his becoming a success in Norway would only help us in the end, if the buy option does end up getting activated. We will probably earn a decent sum for his services should the purchase clause be triggered.
Who knows, maybe the Chelsea youngster could return to the club in the future if he makes a name for himself. Whether that will happen or not remains to be seen.
