A View From The Bridge

Chelsea could be interested in 28-year-old Serie A ace whose contract is up in the summer

Chelsea could join the race to sign Juventus attacker Paulo Dybala once the club’s takeover is completed

According to 90min (h/t Football.London), Chelsea could pursue Juventus ace Paulo Dybala once the takeover of the club is complete.

The 28-year-old has been making a name for himself with the Bianconeri in the last few seasons and his current contract with the club expires on 30th June 2022. The Argentine attacker hasn’t signed a contract renewal and his recent exploits mean that there shouldn’t be a shortage of suitors to secure his services with several teams expected to be interested.

Dybala has bagged 13 goals and recorded six assists in 29 matches across all competitions to date for the Italian club this season. He is majorly deployed as the second striker but can also be used as a centre-forward and attacking midfielder should the need arise.

The Argentinian international has also been used on the right-wing which goes to show the kind of versatility that he brings to any team. His flair and ability on the ball could be a dream for most managers. At 28, Dybala could be heading into the prime of his career and the Stamford Bridge outfit would be looking to snatch him up should the opportunity arise.

Transfer News: Chelsea could pursue Juventus star Paulo Dybala once the takeover is done

Can Dybala add some spark to the attack at Stamford Bridge

The Blues have spent enormous amounts of money on recruiting talented forwards such as Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner. Despite the big price tag attached to them the duo has struggled to have any substantial impact on the field for Chelsea.

A dynamic attacker could therefore be the need of the hour and Paulo Dybala fits that bill perfectly. Thomas Tuchel has shown great tactical awareness throughout the season integrating some of the best players in the squad with different formations across the campaign.

Paulo Dybala has been impressive for Juventus this season

The versatility of the 28-year-old Argentine could thus be a great benefactor in helping us create more chances going forward. That being said, we have in recent memory broken the bank to purchase potential world beaters only for them to struggle to get to terms with our style of football.

Hence the club and manager must keep all the different criteria in mind should they genuinely be interested in pushing for any move. The Premier League can also be a whole different ball game with respect to the physicality and intensity of the game and this is something that should also be taken into account.

Whilst there is still no confirmation as to who the new owner of the club is, it would be interesting to see how Chelsea would go about this with a new person at the helm. Dybala has supposedly been identified as a target for the Stamford Bridge outfit but only time shall tell whether or not the club is able to lure him away from the Allianz Stadium.
