Thomas Tuchel is not a serious contender for the Manchester United job
According to 90Min (h/t Football London), Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is not a serious contender for the Manchester United job at this stage.
Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag are considered to be frontrunners for the managerial role at Old Trafford and are the most likely candidates to replace Ralf Ragnick ahead of the 2022-23 season. This could all but rule out Tuchel swapping London for Manchester.
Following the uncertainty at Stamford Bridge due to the sanctions imposed against Roman Abramovich, Tuchel’s name has been linked to the managerial job at Old Trafford. While the Red Devils still consider the German manager as an option to replace his counterpart, Chelsea are said to be confident of resolving the situation soon and keep hold of their Champions League winning manager for the 2022-23 campaign.
Tuchel has been vocal about his commitment to Chelsea despite the situation and with a contract till 2024, it seems unlikely that the German manager will want to leave. Man United may also know this, which could be the reason why they are focussing their efforts elsewhere.
A legacy to build?
Having joined Chelsea midway last season, Tuchel had an immediate impact on the Blues, guiding them to a Champions League win. The Blues have also won the Club World Cup under the German coach.
This season, although the Premier League might be out of reach, Chelsea are still in the reckoning for two different trophies in the FA Cup and the Champions League. Tuchel will be hoping to guide the Blues to both these trophies and add to his already impressive trophy cabinet.

In his time at Stamford Bridge, Tuchel has shown himself to be a very able tactician and sets his team up very well. He has managed to mitigate a number of injury problems and shown his management skills at various points.
Chelsea will not want to lose their manager at any cost, and Tuchel also seems to want to stay at Stamford Bridge. Manchester United may indeed have to look elsewhere.
