Real Madrid pose new competition for Chelsea in their pursuit of Jude Bellingham
According to the German source Bild (h/t The Sun), Real Madrid now pose new competition for Chelsea in their pursuit to secure the signature of Borussia Dortmund youngster Jude Bellingham. He has earned lots of plaudits for his performances since moving to Germany back in 2020.
Bellingham is currently tied down at Dortmund until 2025, giving them complete control over his future for now. Despite that, Real have entered the race to sign him and will be joined by the Blues, Liverpool and Manchester United. However, he is currently valued at over £100million, making him a difficult transfer to accomplish for any side.
As such, Los Blancos will only attempt to finalise a move for the Englishman in the summer of 2023. They want to bring in Erling Haaland initially, which would cost them £64million plus another £34million for Mino Raiola. Hence, they would be financially constrained to target Bellingham after this term prompting them to take the current stance.
More troubles for Chelsea
The La Liga side’s entry is not one bit of a shocking update looking at how good the 18-year-old has been for club and country. He has quickly become a key player at both levels and is among the best young midfielders alongside the likes of Pedri, for example.
That being said, the Spanish club would not pose any immediate threat to us due to their preference to sign Haaland initially. That means the Red and Man United are still our main rivals for now in this transfer race to sign the Bundesliga midfield prodigy.
The former Birmingham City man has been in fine form once again this season, having added six goals and 13 assists to his tally from 37 appearances across all competitions. That kind of output from midfield would undoubtedly be useful to any team, making him a superstar already at this point.
The Dortmund ace’s displays are the reason why we need to be wary of our Premier League rivals, as they are bound to get more attracted if he performs in this trajectory. Jurgen Klopp is a huge fan of the central midfielder and is very keen to bring him to Anfield.

As for the Red Devils, they could sign the England international by tempting him to join Jadon Sancho at Old Trafford. Our transfer ban makes us susceptible to getting piped in the midfielder’s pursuit, which means that the club must find a solution to it as soon as possible.
Bellingham can be a great choice for us, especially when the likes of Jorginho and N’Golo Kante are nearing the end of their playing careers. Replacing the Blues duo can be difficult, but the former can do just that, considering his current level of performance. Whether he would move to Stamford Bridge in the future or not remains to be seen.
