According to Daily Mail, British magnate Nick Candy is working on a £2.5billion bid to purchase Chelsea from Roman Abramovich. The Real-estate developer has been a fan of the club since the age of four and is thought to be talking to American investors about forming a consortium to initiate the process of launching a formal bid for the Blues.
His plans also include a £1.5billion rebuild of Stamford Bridge. Whilst the overall amount is still short of the £3 billion price tag set by Roman Abramovich, the 55-year-old could be looking to make a sale as soon as possible. Ever since the Russian oligarch took over the club in 2003, the West Londoners have come a long way cementing their position amongst the elite in England as well as Europe.
The Blues have won a plethora of titles and even managed to get their hands on the FIFA Club World Cup for the first time ever last month. Chelsea have also produced some amazing talents over the years which is testimony to the youth system that has been built at the club under the vision of Abramovich.
The 55-year-old Russian instructed The Raine Group to find a suitable buyer for the club last week. Since that time it is understood that there have been 20 expressions of interest but only close to half a dozen have been credible buyers. All of this hints at the fact that there certainly won’t be a shortage of takers for this prestigious club
Roman Abramovich has helped steer the club into a new direction ever since taking ownership of the club. He has been a commanding presence and the London-based club has enjoyed a great spell of success with him at the helm. There has been a lot of uncertainty looming around Chelsea ever since he decided to end his association with the club.
Despite all of that the Blues seem to be unfazed and have put up some stellar performances in recent fixtures. They narrowly missed out on winning the EFL Cup after losing out in a mind-boggling penalty shootout to Liverpool last month.
The Stamford Bridge outfit reacted well to the setback by recording an emphatic victory against Burnley in the Premier League. There has also been some good news on the injury front with Reece James regaining full match fitness. The likes of Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso have also returned to training which could be a good indication.
With a packed schedule ahead Thomas Tuchel can finally breathe a sigh of relief as some of his core players are starting to make their way to match fitness. The Blues still have a lot to play for and would be hoping to get their hands on more silverware before the end of the season.
Chelsea have become a dominating force in global football at the moment. Whilst there is still no confirmation as to the new owners’ identity, the fans would be hoping that the club can continue to emulate the success that it has recorded in past campaigns.
