According to Alfredo Pedulla (h/t Sunderland Echo), Napoli could look to sign Chelsea youngster Armando Broja on the offset that their star striker Victor Osimhen departs the club at the end of the season.
The 20-year-old is currently on loan to Southampton and is turning some heads with his performances at the Saint Mary’s Stadium. The talented youngster has held his own against some of the top clubs in the Premier League this campaign and has grown in leaps and bounds under the guidance of Ralph Hasenhüttl.
The young striker has scored nine goals and bagged one assist in 31 matches across all competitions for the Saints this season so far. His darting runs have caused opposing defenders a lot of problems and his ability to find pockets of space is another great feature of his game.
The Italian club seems to be the latest party who are interested in the 20-year-old striker. That being said, such a proposition will depend on where or not Osimhen leaves the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium at the end of the season. The 23-year-old has quickly become one of the hottest properties in Europe and Newcastle United could be looking to make a swoop for him before the start of next season.
In a recent report from Fichajes (h/t Football.London), the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Liverpool are also in the fray to secure the services of the African striker. Osimhen has already bagged 15 goals and notched up four assists in 25 matches across all competitions for the Serie A club this season.
His performances have certainly caught the eyes of several suitors and the Partenopei have slapped a huge £84m price tag on him. It will therefore be interesting to see whether or not the former LOSC Lille striker will remain with Napoli next season.
Should Osimhen depart the Serie A club it could have a domino effect which could see Napoli go after Broja. The Italian club could also be well funded in such circumstances. That being said, the Blues wouldn’t want to let go of their rising star just yet considering the woes of forwards such as Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku.
We wouldn’t want a repeat of what happened with Tammy Abraham as the club sold him to AS Roma before the start of the season. The English forward is now flourishing under the tutelage of Jose Mourinho as we speak. The interest from Napoli may not be hard and fast but we should nonetheless be wary of any potential suitors for Armando Broja considering his recent exploits for Southampton.
