Chelsea owner showed symptoms of attack by ‘chemical weapons’ after peace talks in Ukraine

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich suffers from alleged chemical weapons poisoning after peace talks in Ukraine

According to Bellingcat on Twitter (h/t Sky Sports), Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has allegedly been poisoned by chemical weapons during the peace talks held between Ukraine and Russia. His life is not under threat at this moment, and the club has been contacted for further information regarding their chief.

Abramovich has been travelling between Moscow and Kyiv several times on the subject of peace talks amid the war in Ukraine. In one such talk held from 3 to 4 March 2022, the club owner, alongside at least two senior members of the Ukrainian team, developed symptoms like red eyes, constant and painful tearing, and peeling skin on their faces and hands, which are similar to the effects of chemical poisoning, according to the Wall Street Journal (h/t Sky Sports).

The Russian oligarch is claimed to be “fine” at this moment, and it is alleged that the attempt “most likely was intended to scare” the potential targets involved in the peace talks. Bellingcat also expressed that the people affected by the supposed chemical-induced poisoning have recovered from the problems over the next few weeks.

Scary incident

While “microwave irradiation” is touted as a possibility, the chances of that being the cause are stated to be less likely. That means this is possibly an attempt to scare the people involved, as mentioned in the update. This news is very concerning, to say the least, considering how people’s lives were put at risk.

Fortunately, the dosage was not enough to cause death even though they initially experienced issues like eye and skin inflammation and piercing pain in the eyes which lasted throughout the night. A drastic situation could have affected us as well, but it is good to know that we did not see such a result.

After all, Abramovich is still our club owner, and the UK Government would probably still need him to help facilitate the West London side’s sale smoothly. Not to mention, it is also good to know that he is doing well right now for everything he has done for us over the years.

Let’s hope that the people affected by the suspected chemical poisoning will not back down from the peace talks. It is Abramovich’s ties with Vladimir Putin that put the club in this difficult situation in the first place. Hence, we remain hopeful that the club chief can initiate further peace negotiations to find a solution as early as possible.

The Russian businessman is in the process of selling the club to new owners. Apparently, a shortlist has been prepared and we could be under new ownership before the start of May. It is clear that Abramovich is burdened with much bigger things at the moment.

Luckily for Chelsea Football Club, the Russian delegated the whole process of finding new owners to Raine Group, who are working on a daily basis to make sure the Blues’ day-to-day functions return to normal as soon as possible.
