Transfer News: PSG target move to sign Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante
According to The Telegraph (Subscription Required), PSG have identified Chelsea superstar N’Golo Kante as a potential target ahead of the summer transfer window. He has been sensational for his side over the past few years and is arguably their best midfielder in the squad during that period.
Kante will enter the final year of his current deal with the Blues at the end of this campaign. That has attracted attention from several clubs, and Paris Saint-Germain are named as one of them. They could put in a transfer bid after this season as they look to prise him away before the other competitors.
The French side have been waiting for a while for the 30-year-old’s contract to near its latter stages. That will be the outcome next summer, which could create issues for Thomas Tuchel’s side. His current deal at Stamford Bridge earns him around £300,000 a week, but it remains to be seen if an extension is on the cards moving forward.
Chelsea! Renew Kante’s contract NOW!
We normally have a transfer policy of not providing players in their thirties with long contracts. That is understandable in most cases, but the Frenchman should not be held in that category. Moreover, football has evolved a lot over the past decade, and more players have lengthened their playing careers past the 35 mark.
Thiago Silva is one such example, and he is yet to show any signs of decline so far. That could be the reason why we decided to renew his current contract for another year. Fortunately, it seems that the West London side are open to making an exception for the former Leicester City man.
That would be a great decision on our part, with the Premier League ace bagging yet another Man of the Match award in the Champions League recently. However, the central midfielder could run down his contract at the club to keep his options open for the future.

Jorginho is on the same boat as Kante, as his deal also expires at the end of the 2022-23 season. However, it seems that Tuchel’s team would only decide to stick with one of them moving forward. That raises concerns, looking at how both of them have fared during their time so far with us.
Declan Rice of West Ham United and AS Monaco’s Aurelien Tchouameni are touted as potential options who could be brought in to negate any outgoings. It will be interesting to see how this situation would turn out in the future when we near the end of their respective contracts.
