Transfer News: Chelsea interested in 22-year-old Real Sociedad forward Alexander Isak
According to The Mirror, Chelsea are interested in Swedish forward Alexander Isak. The 22-year-old La Liga star is also on the radar of fellow Premier League rivals Manchester United. The youngster was also linked with a move to Arsenal in the January transfer window but it turned out to be a false alarm.
The Swedish star has already played 115 games across all competitions for Real Sociedad, during which time he has scored 41 goals and provided seven assists. This goes to show the immense potential that the youngster possesses and how is already a seasoned forward playing in a top league.
That being said, Isak is more than just the summation of his stats and brings a vibrant burst of youth and energy upfront.
The 22-year-old, who predominantly plays as a centre-forward, has a £75million release clause in his contract which means that any club that wants his services would have to part ways with a significant amount of money.
Alexander Isak, Chelsea and their attack
The former Borussia Dortmund player could help add some more zeal into the attack at Stamford Bridge. The Blues haven’t been shy of spending the big bucks to acquire talent in the past. The West London club spent a humongous £97.5m to secure the services of Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan after bringing in Timo Werner the summer before that.
The Belgian has struggled to get going after returning to the Premier League in his second stint with Chelsea. He has managed to score only five goals in 16 Premier League appearances for the Blues this season. Alexander Isak could offer Thomas Tuchel another option in attack if the 28-year-old continues to struggle in the same manner.
This could help the 48-year-old manager rotate his squad accordingly to maintain the highest fitness levels of the team. And not to mention, it could also create a situation where the two can be paired together up front.
It would also help to have another option in attack with Timo Werner not yet at the level he showed in the Bundesliga. The Blues have a packed schedule ahead of them as they compete on several fronts and depth plays a crucial role here, especially in attack.
It is important to note that the last time either one of Werner or Lukaku scored for us was almost a month back in a 5-1 thrashing of minnows Chesterfield.

But with other PL clubs also linked with him, we have to act fast if we want to sign our man in the upcoming windows. Isak has the potential to be a quality striker for a big club and there is nothing stopping him from replicating the likes of Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe on the global stage.
