A View From The Bridge

“Worst days of their careers” – Tuchel fires warning ahead of FA Cup clash vs Plymouth

Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel sends a stern warning to Plymouth Argyle ahead of their coming FA Cup fixture

According to Eurosport, speaking in his pre-match press conference, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has sent a strong message to Plymouth Argyle ahead of their FA Cup fixture later tonight.

The West London club has struggled to keep pace in the Premier League title race in recent matches. Manchester City are the runaway leaders at this point and it would take something really miraculous for them to forfeit their hold at the summit.

Nonetheless, a club with the stature of Chelsea could be looking to fight for every piece of silverware on different fronts. Domestic competitions such as the FA Cup thus become a great way to not only flex their muscle but also give them a chance at landing a significant trophy in the season.

Tuchel made his intentions of attacking this match with sheer intent very clear in his pre-match conference. The German appears keen to take the game to the opponents and hopefully, his team will rise to the occasion.

“We cannot hide from the fact that we are huge favourites. Let’s be honest, I mean we could easily say that it’s the best day in their careers but we want to put it into one of the worst days of their career. In terms of we want to beat them and we want to make it clear that we are the better team.”

Chelsea and their upcoming FA Cup fixture

The Stamford Bridge outfit would be looking to make a stellar impact in the FA Cup. The Blues have already reached the finals of the EFL Cup which highlights that the club are interested in attacking and competing at the highest level on different fronts in England.

The 48-year-old manager has also made it evident in his interview, that the Blues will have to respect their opponents and prepare accordingly. Football can be an unpredictable game and therein lies the beauty of it. We witnessed one such spectacle in the last FA Cup last night when Championship side Middlesborough defeated Manchester United on penalties.

The West London club would want to do their best to avoid the repetition of such a feat in their fixture. Some of the fringe players could get an opportunity to showcase their worth and make an impact with the first team. With the absence of Ben Chilwell due to injury and the failed attempt to bring Emerson Palmieri back to Stamford Bridge this season, we could see the likes of Kenedy don the Blues jersey again.

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has warned against any kind of complacency before their FA Cup fixture

The versatile player could be used as a left-wing-back and this may just be the perfect opportunity for him to resurrect his Chelsea career. Injury to key players like Reece James and Ruben Loftus-Cheek could prove to be a setback for the club. The unavailability of Cristian Pulisic and Thiago Silva could also prove to be another obstacle.

The former Paris Saint-Germain coach has warned against any kind of complacency and we hope the team listens to their manager and puts in a performance worthy of his comments. Having already made it to the Carabao Cup final, the Blues will hopefully repeat the trick in the FA Cup as well.
