Liverpool star Diogo Jota could potentially miss the EFL Cup final against Chelsea due to injury
According to The Express, Liverpool forward Diogo Jota could potentially miss the EFL Cup final against Chelsea. The Portuguese forward suffered an injury in the UEFA Champions League clash against Inter Milan and the scan results show that the injury could be worse than it was initially thought to be.
The former Wolves player has been a sensation ever since joining the Anfield outfit. The 25-year-old is having an exceptional season with the Reds having scored 17 goals and providing three assists in 32 matches across all competitions this campaign.
The Portugal international has filled in pretty well and has done a good job to compete for a starting position against the front three of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, and Sadio Mane. His absence could present itself as a big blow for the Merseysiders.
Chelsea and their own injury woes
The Blues have themselves faced a lot of injury issues this season which has derailed their Premier League campaign. The West Londoners have both their first choice wing-back Recce James and Ben Chilwell on the sidelines due to injury. While the former has been gunning for a return, the latter is potentially ruled out for the entirety of the season.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek is another player who has suffered a great deal due to injury but could be in contention soon. It would be interesting to see whether or not the 26-year-old midfielder would be available for the Carabao Cup final. Mason Mount is one of the latest stars to have picked up an injury in the match finals of the FIFA Club World Cup against Palmeiras.
The 22-year-old midfielder had already picked up a knock in their FA Cup fixture against Plymouth Argyle but had to leave the Mohammed Bin Zayed stadium. There is no confirmation as to a set return date for the English midfielder but it is being believed that he could be targeting a return for the Carabao Cup final against the Reds.

Injuries are a sad reality of the game and both teams have to, unfortunately, deal with these obstacles. That being said, Thomas Tuchel and Jurgen Klopp will be looking to get their hands on the coveted EFL Cup. The fans would be hoping that the Blues can see this over the line as it would at least temporarily give them bragging rights over their arch-nemesis and PL rivals Liverpool.
