“Do better” – Several fans react as Chelsea know fifth-round FA Cup opponents

Some fans react as Chelsea are set to face Luton Town in the next round of the FA Cup

Chelsea had a tough day at the office in their last FA Cup fixture against Plymouth Argyle and will face Luton Town in the fifth round of the FA Cup. The Pilgrims put on a spirited performance as they broke the deadlock early in the game and the West London club had to rely on an extra-time strike by Marcos Alonso to secure progression to the next round of the competition.

We would be hoping that the Stamford Bridge outfit can put up a better performance against Luton in the next round. While it may seem like an easy fixture from the outside, the tough battle against Argyle would hopefully force them to pull up their socks and help put in a more dominant performance this time around.

The London-based club needed goals from Cesar Azpilicueta and Alonso against the League One side last time to progress. The attackers would need to step up and provide some moments of great quality in front of the goal as we cannot rely on our defenders to bail us out every time. Kepa Arrizabalaga was the hero on the night and his saved penalty late in extra time could easily be deemed as one of the most crucial moments in the match.

The FA Cup is also a great opportunity for the younger and fringe players to prove to create inroads into the first-team setup. The youngsters will have to step up to the plate and provide better performances if the club would like to compete on various fronts this season.

The Blues scraped through with great difficulty against Plymouth but the fans will be hoping for a better performance against Luton Town. Whilst the previous match was a rollercoaster ride for the fans Kepa’s performance was one of the notable highlights for the West Londoners.

Football can be an unpredictable game and that is what makes it so beautiful. On paper, the fixture against Luton can seem like the perfect modern-day representation of the David vs Goliath battle. That being said, the Stamford Bridge outfit could be looking to put the matter to bed in a comfortable manner against The Hatters in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
