In conversation with GiveMeSport (h/t Hampshire Live), former Southampton player Carlton Palmer has backed the Saints to sign rising Chelsea starlet Tino Anjorin.
The 20-year-old attacking midfielder is tipped for a bright future and is one of the several Chelsea starlets who is part of the Blues loan army this season. It was being thought that Southampton wanted to sign the young English attacker on loan in January but it eventually fell through due to the Premier League rule of not being able to loan more than one player from a single club.
Anjorin thus made his way to the lower league side, Huddersfield Town with a six-month loan contract on deadline day. The English professional footballer is at a very pivotal stage in his football career and the next few years could potentially make or break his professional trajectory.
Ralph Hassenhutl is known to bring out the best from his group of players whilst also possessing a penchant for developing young talent. The Austrian is already doing a phenomenal job with another Chelsea starlet in the form of Armando Broja.
Speaking to GiveMeSport (h/t Hampshire Live), Palmer shared his thoughts on the situation regarding the 20-year-old attacker. The 56-year-old also highlighted the great relationship between the Blues and Southampton along with the quality of Hassenhutl:
“Yeah, it seems they [Southampton] have a good relationship with Chelsea. The players are playing, which is first and foremost, and Ralph [Hasenhuttl] is a good coach – obviously, it works.”
The 20-year-old English midfielder has shown immense potential and has it in him to develop into a reliable top-flight midfielder. His previous loan spell with Lokomotiv Moscow was marred with injury issues and the youngster would be looking forward to making more of an impact for The Terriers in the matches to come.
The Saints are known for helping develop young players and could provide Anjorin with the right minerals to strike it big. Hassenhutl’s men play an exciting brand of football, going toe to toe with some of the big guns in the Premier League despite not possessing the same kind of financial backing.
Their recent performances against the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur is testimony to the kind of football that they are playing at the moment. Apart from Broja, Tino Livramento is also plying his trade at the Saint Mary’s stadium albeit on a permanent deal.
The West Londoners already possess a huge repository of attackers and it could be tough for the 20-year-old Englishman to make a claim for a position in the starting eleven at the moment. With that in mind, a loan spell could be the perfect route for his development right now.
Whilst Anjorin could also be looking for a permanent move away from the club in a bid for more first-team minutes, there is an endless stream of opportunities for the youngster. The English midfielder would be hoping to gain some momentum in his spell at Huddersfield Town and only the future can tell us the whereabouts of his next destination.
