In his pre-match press conference (h/t Football.London), Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira has hailed Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel for his achievements ahead of his side’s clash with the Blues.
The 48-year-old German head coach took over the reins from former boss Frank Lampard who had a tough managerial spell at the helm. Ever since arriving at Stamford Bridge Tuchel has turned the table and steered the club in the right direction. The club has won the UEFA Champions League as well as the UEFA Super Cup under his guidance.
Tuchel also became the first manager to propel the Blues to a FIFA Club World Cup and has also guided the West Londoners to the final of the EFL Cup this campaign. Chelsea started their Premier League campaign this season in a strong manner but injury issues coupled with Covid scares have seen them fall a far distance behind current leaders Manchester City.
In his presser (h/t Football.London), the former Arsenal player has stated been in awe of his fellow counterpart at Stamford Bridge. He also went on to highlight the enormity of the things that Tuchel has achieved with this club:
“I think it’s a fantastic achievement as a manager. Since he arrived there you make a judgement on what you’re winning at the end of the season. Winning the Champions League and being the World Champions – it’s hard to do better than that.”
The Eagles are currently in the bottom half of the table but there seems to be an air of excitement ever since Vieira has taken over as manager at Selhurst Park. Our very own Conor Gallagher has been a pivotal presence for Palace this season chipping in with seven goals and five assists across 24 matches in all competitions.
Pep Guardiola is also recently thought to have called Chelsea one of the best clubs in the world at the moment. This goes to show the kind of impact that Thomas Tuchel has with the Blues. The German has managed to shore up the defence which has helped create a solid foundation for the team.
The match against the Eagles will not be easy considering the fact that we have a packed lineup towards the end of February. Whilst Crystal palace are still in the bottom half of the table they have shown time and again that they are capable of going toe to toe with the top clubs.
Tuchel’s side will have to be on alert and a victory over their London rivals could help give them some momentum for the games to come. The fans would be hoping that the Blues can put up a spirited performance at Selhurst Park that will further increase the teams’ morale heading into the business end of the season.
