Transfer News: Chelsea among clubs offered Juventus star Paulo Dybala
According to 90min (h/t Express), Chelsea is one among several Premier League clubs that have been offered Juventus forward Paulo Dybala at the end of the season, as the striker’s agent drums up interest in his client.
The Blues have had their own struggles in front of goals this season, with the club’s forwards not hitting their usual levels and finding it difficult to put the ball in the back of the net. Romelu Lukaku was bought at the beginning of the season to add goals to Chelsea’s forward line, but he too has looked short of confidence and form in recent weeks.
Dybala is out of contract at the end of the season and could be one of the finest players to enter free agency in recent years. Still in his prime, the Argentine superstar has much to offer on the field.
However, the Blues are sure to face competition for securing the attacker’s signature in the summer with a host of Premier League clubs including rivals Liverpool, Manchester United, and Arsenal all interested. A world-class player, it is clear to see why some of the best clubs in the world are after him.
Negotiations break down in Turin
The reason Dybala may be available for free in the summer is that contract negotiations between the player and Juventus have broken down in recent months. The player is said to be furious about the situation but there does not appear to be an amicable solution on the horizon. It is said that he has refused to sit down with the club over fresh talks for a new contract, pacing the way for a summer transfer.
The Italian giants were said to have offered a five-year deal worth £6.66m-a-year to the 28-year-old. However, Juventus changed the terms at the last minute, given their current financial struggle. As things stand, Dybala is set to leave the club at the end of the season once his current contract expires.
With the player into the last six months of the current deal with Juventus, he is now free to speak to foreign clubs about a pre-contract agreement. This would see the striker join another club on a free transfer – something that Chelsea would be eyeing closely.
Since the end of the last year, we have found it difficult to score goals despite having world-class strikers in the squad. The club have spent eye-popping amounts on forwards in recent years, but we are yet to boast of someone in the squad who is consistent at finding the back of the net.

Aware of the cash they have spent on strikers, Dybala’s potential availability for free in the summer is too good an opportunity for Chelsea to turn away from. It is essential that we beef up our squad in all departments in an effort to compete for all available trophies across multiple competitions.
It remains to be seen whether the Blues will pursue the 28-year-old at the end of the season, but if they do plan to, they will need to come up with an offer that the Argentine cannot refuse. Considering that our biggest rivals could be hot on the heels of the striker, it would be a shame to lose out on a player like Dybala to a title rival.
