Transfer News: Everton ready to sell Lucas Digne amid Chelsea interest
According to Transfer Expert Fabrizio Romano (h/t Football.London) , Everton are keen on parting ways with Chelsea target Lucas Digne.
Lucas Digne has consistently put on impressive performances for the Toffees for the last few seasons. The defender started the current season very well and has bagged 15 appearances across all competitions in the campaign’s first half. However, a recent fallout with current Toffees manager Rafa Benitez has put his future at the Merseyside club in danger.
Chelsea have been eyeing Digne in order to bolster their full-back options. Now, it is believed that Everton are expected to sell Digne in the ongoing transfer window. This could be a massive opportunity for the Blues to bolster a position that needs strengthening.
Chelsea are struggling to cope with the hectic schedule. The Midfield and forward line has already been stretched thin and now the defensive line is beginning to show cracks thanks to injuries of vital players.
Ben Chilwell has been sidelined since November. According to Metro, The England international will soon undergo surgery, which will see him ruled out of action for the remainder of the season. This could be the prime reason why Blues are targeting Digne. Even a short term loan move would be able to help Thomas Tuchel tackle the situation.
On top of that, Trevoh Chalobah will undergo an assessment for a possible hamstring injury. If the damage is confirmed, the Blues academy graduate will join Andreas Christensen on the sidelines.
Chelsea have very few alternatives left who can cover these defensive voids. Thomas Tuchel might require to call up academy graduates if the situation remains dire. The Blues secured a top-notch comeback against Liverpool last weekend but it did little to boost their chances of toppling Manchester City.

Signing Digne should be a priority for the Blues board. Even a loan move would help Thomas Tuchel manage the situation. Everton’s stance is favourable for the West London team, and Marina Granovskaia’s board should take advantage of that.
