Transfer News: Bundesliga ace on Chelsea’s radar likely to become a free agent in the summer

Transfer News: Boost for Chelsea as Niklas Sule rejects latest Bayern Munich contract

According to Evening Standard, German star Niklas Sule looks set to leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season amidst interest from Chelsea.

The 26-year-old missed the majority of Bayern’s treble-winning season due to injury. However, he has returned stronger and given much better performances in this campaign. One of Julian Nagelsmann’s key players, the German international, has completed 25 appearances across all competitions this season.

Chelsea target Niklas Sule is a star for Bayern Munich and the German national team.

Sule’s current contract with Bayern is set to expire in the summer of 2022. However, he hasn’t yet signed a new deal and looks set to leave the Allianz Arena at the end of the season. Bayern Munich chairman Oliver Khan has fueled speculation by admitting that Sule refused to sign the latest offer on the table.

“It took a long time, and we made him an offer. He didn’t accept that offer.”

The Blues have shown an interest in the German international in recent times. With him likely to leave on a free, it is something that Chelsea should seek to take advantage of. Signing a player of Sule’s ability, that too on a Bosman, would be an excellent piece of business.

The defence at Stamford Bridge could be set for a revamp ahead of the 2022-23 campaign. The Blues are yet to reach an agreement with César Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, who could all otherwise leave the club for free next summer. If that proves to be the case, the Blues can do themselves a huge favour by landing Sule for themselves.

Thomas Tuchel will need to play his cards right to ensure the defence has the quality and strength in depth to challenge for the top prizes next season. A solid rearguard has been the driving force behind the German’s success at the club so far, and it is not something that he must allow to fall into ruin. Therefore, making a move for Sule will free up funds to be used elsewhere and put us in a better spot in contract negotiations with the available stars.

Sule is a proven talent at the elite level and would be an incredible addition to our defence. A regular for the German national side, it is no secret that he is amongst the finest defenders in Europe. A physically dominant player with pace to boot, he is the complete package when it comes to scouring a central defender.

It appears unlikely that Chelsea will be given a free hand to sign Sule. However, the Blues are amongst the best clubs on the continent and can provide the German with an excellent sporting project. Time is also of the essence and it is in our best interests to land the player on a pre-contract agreement as soon as possible.
