Chelsea striker Timo Werner is determined to repay Blues fans for their faith in him

Speaking to the club’s official website, Chelsea forward Timo Werner said that his relationship with the Chelsea supporters has made him determined to pay them back with silverware this season, despite his own difficulties on the pitch.

The former RB Leipzig man admitted that he tries to give his best in every game so that he can keep Blues fans happy. Werner has a fond place for Blues fans in his heart, saying that them singing his name makes it much more fun to play and proud to turn out for Chelsea.

The German wants to give his best for the club and repay his gratitude to the fans for their fantastic support. The forward admitted that at times, the fans’ backing has left him surprised despite his poor form.

“Sometimes even I don’t know why they are supporting me so much, because as a striker you want to score as many goals as possible and sometimes I miss this aim, I have to be honest about that. It makes it a lot of fun to play in front of the Chelsea fans and when they give you the support like they give to me it makes you even stronger when you miss chances or have hard times.”

Werner has had a hard time on and off the pitch, with injury and Covid making it difficult for the striker to find his rhythm. That has led to some underwhelming performances from him this season. The German ace had his momentum further disrupted when he had to recover from severe fatigue as an aftereffect of contracting Covid.

Werner admitted that he was in good shape before the injury, but then his plans to come back stronger were disrupted by Covid and its effects on his body. The 25-year-old said it was not possible for him to return to the squad quickly because he struggled with fatigue, feeling too tired doing everyday activities like going up the stairs.

Despite the recent setback following the loss against Manchester City on the weekend, Werner insists that the team remain confident in their approach for the rest of the campaign. With us still alive on several fronts, it is imperative that we do not throw in the towel.

“We have enough to win this year still, we are in the Champions League, we are in the final of the Carabao Cup, we are still in the FA Cup, we have the Club World Cup coming up. We have a lot of chances to win titles this year so there is no time to let our heads go down because of what happened at the weekend.”

Often the target of ridicule of opposition fans for the lack of goals since his move to Chelsea, it is nice to see that Werner feels loved and supported by our own fans. It is not easy for a player in this day and age to get affected by all the hate comments and vile chants made against them, especially on social media, but the German seems to have a strong head on him.

Despite the lack of goals flowing from his boots, there is no doubt that Werner is committed to the club and putting in his best for us. In recent weeks, he seems to have found his rhythm and has shown promise of forming a formidable duo with fellow forward Romelu Lukaku.

With a chance to win silverware early in the season next month with the Carabao Cup and FIFA Club World Cup, Werner will be determined to be a Chelsea hero and rediscover his scoring touch. It is time he showed me more of the player who set pulses racing during his time at Leipzig.

The forward clearly seems determined to excel and with enough support from the fans, we can hope to see a renewed and injury-free Werner hit his mark and become the goal scorer we all know him to be.
