Some fans react on Twitter as Chelsea make short work of Chesterfield in the FA Cup
The FA Cup is famed for its shocks but there were none of that on show at Stamford Bridge where European Champions Chelsea took on English minnows, Chesterfield.
Thomas Tuchel’s side put in a thoroughly professional performance that saw them dominate from start to finish in the third round tie. It is heartening to see the side go about their business with minimal fuss.
Timo Werner kicked off proceedings with the opening goal in the sixth minute. A quickfire double from Callum Hudson-Odoi and Romelu Lukaku gave the home side a three-goal cushion within the first 20 minutes of the game.
The Blues were far from done and grabbed a fourth before the break thanks to Andreas Christensen. The match was good as done at half-time and Tuchel’s side proved just that.
Hakim Ziyech scored Chelsea’s fifth in the second half as the Blues romped home to a dominant win. Akwasi Asante grabbed a late consolation for Chesterfield but there was little they could have done to stop Chelsea from running rings around them.
It was a special night for Cobham graduate Lewis Hall who became the youngest player to ever start an FA Cup clash for the Blues. The teenager was impressive on the night and it looks as if Chelsea have found another diamond in the rough.
With their name now in the hat for the fourth round draw, Tuchel and co can return to focus on more pressing matters. Chelsea faces Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup next before the Premier League clash against Manchester City. While both games will be considerably tougher than the challenge posed by Chesterfield, a similar no-nonsense approach will hold Yuchel’s side in good stead.
For now, we look at how the Chelsea fans reacted to the performance on Twitter.
This is what Cobham gives the world, doesn't disappoint. Young Hall – that was epic lad

Great game but as a striker I will be so furious having to play with Barkley. Man is so awful in releasing balls

So we just conceded a goal against a team from the fifth division in England. This victory is nothing to cheer for

Chelsea's team outclasses that of Chesterfield on all fronts so it was a predictable win from the onset; Nevertheless congrats to the team for a job well-done, they played brilliantly & made The Blues proud. Hopefully the victory isn't short lived as the season progresses.
