Chelsea superstar’s leaked text reveals situation is ‘hot’ at Stamford Bridge

Leaked text messages of Romelu Lukaku hint at heated Chelsea scenes after interview controversy

According to US broadcaster NBC (h/t Mirror), Romelu Lukaku allegedly told former teammate Tim Howard that the situation at Chelsea isn’t favourable at the moment after his recent interview controversy. 

The Italian press recently published Romelu Lukaku‘s interview, which was shot a few weeks back. However, the content of the interview has created massive controversy. The Belgian said that Thomas Tuchel is currently using different tactics and is presently not enjoying his stay at the North London club. 

Thomas Tuchel, however, hasn’t been lenient with the forward’s behaviour. The German manager dropped the 28-year-old for one of the most important clashes of the season against Liverpool and suggested that a meeting be organised to decide Lukaku’s future. 

“We will decide it tomorrow, have a meeting from there and inform you.”

Amid such a scenario, the former Manchester United player’s stay at the club isn’t guaranteed, and it is believed that a January transfer is ‘on the horizon.’ 

Even ‘Big Rom’ knows this and has discussed the current scenario with one of his former teammates. It is believed that Lukaku messaged his former Everton teammate, Tim Howard, that the environment is very heated at Chelsea, and the Belgian wouldn’t be able to give any clear cut thoughts on his future before the scheduled meeting with the club hierarchy. 

“I can’t say too much. The situation is hot. I have another meeting on Monday. After that, I can say more.”

Romelu Lukaku came from Italy with a big reputation and a hefty price tag on his head. Even though the 28-year-old has given some match-winning knocks this season, overall, his performances don’t really place him amongst the best forwards in the PL right now. The Belgian has managed seven goals and two assists in 18 appearances across all competitions for the Blues. 

Lukaku, no doubt, is picking up his pace after taking the time to adapt to the new system. He has proven to be a world-class striker and is currently in the peak years of his career. Therefore, he could be a massive asset for Chelsea.

However, any manager would want to know how loyal his players are to the team. On top of that, distinct professionalism is often asked from such big stars. Lukaku has hurt his stature with the recent comments and would now have to work hard to earn the trust of the dressing room as well as the fans, which won’t be easy. 

A dedicated attitude in training and on the pitch, and a few goals over the next few weeks may just do the trick, however, but nothing can be guaranteed about his future until we hear more from the club.
