According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will miss the trip to Chelsea tomorrow after returning a suspected positive test for Covid-19.
Chelsea are set to face Liverpool tomorrow in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge. This season, the duo have been termed as the title contenders but now face a massive game against each other in order to stay in the title race. The recent surge in Coronavirus cases hasn’t been easy for both sides either, leaving them shorthanded during a difficult time in the season.
It is believed that Liverpool’s latest Coronavirus test results have not been very kind. The eds have had several players out in recent weeks and will now have to do without their beloved manager. It seems the former Dortmund manager has returned a suspected positive result for the Covid-19 test. The Merseyside manager has shown mild symptoms of Covid-19 and has since self-isolated.
The recent results rule out Klopp from taking the trip to Chelsea. If the positive result gets confirmed, the German manager will also miss the League Cup semi-final against Arsenal. It is believed that Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders will take charge of the team from the sidelines at Stamford Bridge in Klopp’s stead.
Chelsea are currently trailing by 11 points from leader Manchester City with one game in hand. The Liverpool clash is one of the most important games of the season, and Thomas Tuchel’s side desperately needs a win to keep their title hopes alive.
Liverpool are currently one point behind the Blues in the table, but they have played one game less than Thomas Tuchel’s side. Therefore, the Reds can surpass Chelsea if they secure the win at Stamford Bridge.
Jurgen Klopp’s had an enormous impact on the Reds’ recent success. Furthermore, the former Dortmund manager’s energetic reactions from the sidelines have been a contract source of energy for the Merseyside team’s players. Therefore, the absence of Jurgen Klopp will be a massive advantage for Chelsea going into tomorrow’s clash.
