Injury news: Chelsea to assess first-team ace over possible Hamstring issue

Chelsea to assess Trevoh Chalobah for a possible Hamstring issue

According to Football.London, Chelsea staff will assess Trevoh Chalobah on Monday for a possible hamstring injury that he sustained in the 2-2 draw against Liverpool.

Trevoh Chalobah has performed extensively well after getting promoted to the first team earlier this season. The Chelsea management even gave a new contract to the 22-year-old, which is a massive achievement for the academy graduate. The English defender has made 20 appearances across all competitions for Thomas Tuchel’s team.

Trevoh Chalobah has been top-notch throughout the season for Chelsea.

Chalobah had a disappointing first half against the Reds and made a handful of mistakes. But the current news suggests why he was struggling defensively. It is believed that 22-year-old was a doubt for the clash as he was not completely fit. But Thomas Tuchel took the decision to play him as the player agreed to take the risk.

However, the bet could turn into a massive blow for the German manager in the weeks to come. Chalobah was substituted in the 70th minute and appeared to struggle physically. Now, it is believed that the Chelsea staff will take an assessment of his situation on Monday.

It is highly likely that the 22-year-old would most likely miss the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur later this week. The severity of the issue could decide just how long he will have to stay on the sidelines.

Chelsea are already struggling with many injuries, and the defensive line has been the centre of the whirlwind. Andreas Christensen has missed the last few matches due to an injury. Ben Chilwell and Reece James are also out of action at the moment.

The return of Thiago Silva provides Tuchel with another senior centre back to call on apart from Antonio Rudiger. If Chalobah requires to be sidelined for the coming games, César Azpilicueta may have to fill in the void at the heart of the defence. That however vacates the right-back position with no quality full-back currently available.

The scenario is not ideal for a team contending for the biggest prizes in English football. Thus, the Chelsea board should find reinforcements in the market soon.
