According to Fabrizio Romano via Anfield Watch (h/t Daily Express), Chelsea target Jude Bellingham is optimistic about staying at Borussia Dortmund rather than moving to a Premier League club.
Jude Bellingham is having a sensational spell at the German giants and continues to see his reputation soar at the Westfalenstadion. The 18-year-old had developed into a critical player for the Bundesliga side and puts in performances that bely his years.
Furthermore, the English midfielder had an impressive start to the season. With three goals and nine assists in 24 appearances across all competitions, the youngster is already turning the heads of Europe’s biggest clubs.
There is a lot of interest regarding Bellingham in the market. Romano revealed that apart from the interest shown in Spain, Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are all interested in signing the young prospect.
However, the Italian transfer expert also suggested that it would be complicated for any team to lure him from Dortmund in the summer. Romano claimed that Bellingham is currently enjoying considerable game time in the Bundesliga and is not desperate to leave the club.
“He’s happy with Dortmund; he’s always playing. He knows that moving to England could also be a lot of pressure for him as he is one of the biggest talents in English football and one of the biggest talents in the world.”
Fabrizio Romano also suggested that if Erling Haaland chooses to opt for the exit door, it’s improbable that Bellingham would leave in the same transfer window.
“And so this is why at the moment, the boy’s absolutely happy with Borussia Dortmund, and I think it’s going to be difficult to see him leaving the club.”
Chelsea have a lot of injury issues in the team. Even though the return of N’Golo Kanté and Mateo Kovačić has helped to tackle the midfield problem, the lack of depth in the squad has become evident over the last few weeks. This cannot be tolerated at a club that is always competing for the biggest trophies.
Ross Barkley and Saúl Ñíguez have failed to show any semblance of consistency, and Thomas Tuchel has avoided using the off-form midfielders where possible. Therefore, a void is created and has put a lot of pressure on Kante and Kovacic to perform week in week out.
Bellingham is a talented individual and could become a future star of the game. Therefore, a move to Chelsea would not only help Thomas Tuchel bolster his present options, but it’d also guarantee a quality midfield option for the future.
