Chelsea first-team star speaks out on his injury through social media

Chelsea star Reece James speaks out on his injury via social media

According to Reece James’s Instagram post (h/t Football.London), Chelsea full-back Reece James has revealed the extent of his injury in the new year wish post.

Reece James has been one of the best full-backs in the Premier League this season. The British star has already bagged five goals and six assists in 23 appearances across all competitions this term. The 22-year-old played a massive role for Chelsea during the absence of key players.

Chelsea star Reece James had to be substituted against Brighton due to injury.

Thomas Tuchel has faced severe problems with his midfield when N’Golo Kanté and Mateo Kovačić were injured. The poor form of Ross Barkley and Saúl Ñíguez has further compounded the German manager’s problems. This saw him deploy James in a midfield role in numerous matches.

James has constantly been featuring for Thomas Tuchel’s side in the past few weeks. However, the British right-back had to be substituted against Brighton due to an injury. The 22-year-old was later seen leaving Stamford Bridge on crutches which created massive speculations on the severity of the damage.

However, Reece took to Instagram to wish his fans a happy new year and revealed that the injury could be less severe. The Chelsea graduate even suggested that he is putting a lot of effort into making a speedy recovery.

“Unfortunately, I’m ending the year with disappointment, having picked up an injury on Wednesday. Hoping it’s nothing too major. I’ll be working as hard as possible to get back on the pitch soon doing what I love.”

Chelsea’s injury crisis is growing every passing day. Thomas Tuchel is currently without both his first-choice full-backs. Andreas Christensen and Thiago Silva are also out due to injury. Therefore, many gaps are beginning to pop up in the defensive half.

The winter transfer window has already opened, and the Chelsea board should find quality reinforcements to tackle the situation. Blues should prioritise luring full-back options because, without Ben Chilwell and Reece James, the squad has looked vulnerable.
