Transfer News: Chelsea amongst four clubs tracking the progress of FC Copenhagen starlet Roony Bardghji
According to transfer news from journalist Ekrem Konur (h/t ESPN), Chelsea are amongst four European clubs in the race to sign FC Copenhagen winger Roony Bardghji.
The winger recently turned 16 and was promoted to the senior team. It felt like the ideal step-up after he contributed 10 goals in 20 games for the U-19 side. He has also already scored 1 goal in the two appearances he has made for the first team.
The Copenhagen ace has also starred for the Sweden U-17 side, scoring five goals in six appearances. The starlet is going to have the choice of his club when the Danish club decides to cash in on him.
Currently, Chelsea, Ajax, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona are tracking the progress of the teenager. La Masia has always attracted and developed the best talent, while Ajax has been the hotbed for young stars in the past decade. Bayern offer the prospect of winning silverware, given their consistency in the Bundesliga. Thus, it will take some effort from the Blues to land his services.
An exciting find
The West London club has often targeted finished products or players on the brink of becoming so under Roman Abramovich. The recruitment and development by the Cobham academy has been brilliant, but there is a need to promote the individuals that are hitting new heights at a young age.
RB Salzburg found success by handing out a chance to Erling Haaland at the age of 18. AS Monaco did the same with Kylian Mbappe at the ripe age of 17. The Blues could use players of a similar age profile, especially when they have found success in promoting youngsters into the senior set-up of late.
They have worked upon this strategy in the past couple of years, as we also signed Xavier Mbuyamba from the La Masia academy a couple of years ago. He is touted as the next Virgil van Dijk, and that can only mean a good thing.

Bardghji may not have drawn such comparisons yet, but it would be a shame to miss out on a talent as young and exciting as him. He seems like a star for the future, and investing in him right now could pay rich dividends for us in the future.
