A lacklustre game came to an end at the Molineux as Chelsea drew 0-0 against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Blues did not want to play this game at all. They had it clear from the beginning and also had an appeal for postponing the game rejected. Chelsea already had four positive cases and have since had three more, taking the total absentees to seven due to the fatal disease.
Thus, it was no surprise that not a lot changed in regards to the team selection. The midfield had new faces as Thomas Tuchel fielded the returning duo of N’Golo Kante and Trevoh Chalobah. The Frenchman showed in the opening minutes what the West London club have been missing for the past few weeks.
The men in blue prodded the Wolves goal in the beginning before the home side took control. Raul Jimenez started to come into the game, as did left wing-back Marcal. It was the Brazilian’s ball that led to Daniel Podence giving his side the lead only for VAR to cancel it out due to offside.
Tuchel was not impressed with his side’s performance in the first half and gave them a mouthful at half-time. Chalobah came off after he was nursing a knock following a collision with Jimenez and Thiago Silva. Chelsea piled the pressure on and got ahead in numbers.
However, the service to the frontmen was woeful. Saul Niguez, who had perhaps his best game in the famous blue jersey, dictated play but to no avail. Eventually, Christian Pulisic got on the end of a controlled pass by Marcos Alonso and had a chance at goal, but Jose Sa put out a strong left hand to stop the Blues from going ahead.
Kante, too, got a chance in the last minute of the game, but Conor Coady put in a vital interception to earn a point for Bruno Lage and co. The draw means that we are now six points off leaders Manchester City.
Let us now see how some fans reacted on Twitter to yet another unconvincing performance from the Stamford Bridge outfit.
