Everton to sell Lucas Digne in January transfer window as Chelsea are interested
According to the Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla via Football Transfers, as quoted by Simon Phillips (h/t Football.London), Everton are ready to sell Lucas Digne in the January transfer window and Chelsea are interested in signing him. He has fallen out of favour with Rafael Benitez recently, which has led to this situation.
Inter Milan and Napoli are also keeping tabs on the 28-year-old as the winter transfer window draws close. The Toffees are willing to sell him on loan with an option to buy next month. The Blues could benefit from the situation as they require reinforcement in the left-back position.
With not much time left for the transfer window to open next month, we could see more information regarding this development in the coming weeks. Marina Granovskaia would need to use her negotiation skills to the best to beat the competition and get the Frenchman to assist in their plight.
Chelsea to sign Digne?
Ben Chilwell is set to undergo surgery after suffering a partial tear on his ACL, which would rule him out for the rest of the season. We must find a replacement as soon as possible, and the Toffees defender could be just what we need looking at the circumstances.
If we manage to sign him, the option, rather than obligation, to buy would also allow us to return the France star when Chilwell returns after this campaign. However, looking at the quality the former possesses, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to sign him permanently as Marcos Alonso has had a forgettable season himself until now.
Alonso has not shown consistency with his performances and was susceptible even in games where he played well for moments. As such, we may have to look at a future without him in it, and the Everton fullback could be the man to potentially replace him. And who knows, he also could end up having a great career at Stamford Bridge in a team clearly superior to his current club right now.
Since moving from Barcelona, the France left-back has enjoyed a great time at Goodison Park and has reached a new height in his career. He has featured in 127 games throughout his time and has scored six goals with 20 assists to add to it.

Digne could slot into the system Thomas Tuchel has employed currently, which can get the best out of him. He has impressive all-around skills, which are influential in both areas of the pitch.
With Chilwell now set to be on the sidelines, Chelsea’s title ambitions could ride on this window. You don’t need an expert to explain the importance of full-backs in Tuchel’s system. It is quite obvious and evident, and we must take advantage of the situation of Digne at Everton and get a deal across the line.
