Transfer News: Borussia Dortmund intend to keep hold of Jude Bellingham amid Chelsea interest
According to Sport Bild (h/t Football.London), Borussia Dortmund are not expecting to sell Chelsea and Liverpool target, Jude Bellingham, in the near future.
Jude Bellingham has become one of the top-performing youngsters this season. The 18-year-old midfielder has bagged three goals and nine assists in 22 appearances. His contribution has helped Borussia Dortmund perform consistently in the league.
The incredible performances of the English starlet have seemingly attracted Chelsea. The Blues were tracking the situation to find loopholes in his relationship with BVB. However, the German team’s recent transfer stance would shatter Blues’ hopes.
It is believed that Dortmund have no intentions to sell their crucial midfielder and are looking to keep hold of him even beyond 2025, when his current contract expires.
What does it mean for Chelsea?
Chelsea started the season incredibly well but have now found themselves in deep water after recent injuries to key midfielders. Such a crisis has taken away the glamour of Thomas Tuchel’s team.
The West Londoners played against Zenit without N’Golo Kanté and Jorginho. Even Ruben Loftus-Cheek wasn’t available for the Champions League clash after suffering a knock in training. In such a position, the German manager was obliged to play with Ross Barkley and Reece James in midfield. Naturally, Tuchel’s team couldn’t demonstrate their true quality and finished the game at 3-3, just days after losing to West Ham United in the league.
The result saw Chelsea finish behind Juventus in second place in Group H. With Jorginho and Kante not getting any younger, and the out-of-form Saul Niguez only signed on a loan deal, the Blues have to think of long-term replacements for either one of them, if and when they leave Stamford Bridge.

The former Dortmund manager has been hugely successful with some key players in the team. However, the lack of depth in the squad suggests that he needs reinforcements to deliver the envisioned results.
Bellingham could become useful in this sector as he has experience playing in England and has proved his reliability and consistency in one of the toughest leagues in the Bundesliga. If our interest is serious, we should do all that we can to get in a young, talented player like Bellingham who could be a key cog in our team’s wheel for many years to come.
