Chelsea unwilling to splash the cash on Fiorentina star Dusan Vlahovic
According to Daily Star, European champions Chelsea are unwilling to make a big-money move for Fiorentina superstar Dusan Vlahovic.
Dusan Vlahovic has been a sensational performer for Fiorentina and is today amongst the most prolific scorers in Europe. The former Partizan forward’s goal tally this season is on par with the best strikers in the world. The 21-year-old has bagged 18 goals and three assists in 22 appearances this term and has already become a Serie A star.
His consistent performances this season suggests that he could be ready to move to the next level of his career. Chelsea naturally are one of the teams keen on securing his services.
Fiorentina has not been much successful in Serie A in recent seasons and have been unable to take advantage of the monster goalscorer they have in their midst. A quality player like Vlahovic would naturally want to play in the UEFA Champions League but securing the top four would be very difficult for I Viola this season.
Vlahovic has already rejected a lucrative offer from the Italian team and is on track to finding a new home. But his current wage demands could see some sides back away from making a move. It is believed that the striker has demanded a wage of £200,000-a-week – after tax.
The wage itself makes him an expensive target to acquire. On top of that, Fiorentina won’t accept less than £70million in transfer fees to sell him in the January transfer window. The amount when added up males for an expensive investment indeed.
Chelsea have been linked with Vlahovic in recent times. But it is believed that Blues do not want to break their ‘wage structure‘ by agreeing to the Serbian’s wage demands. The trio of, Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have also backed off from their pursuit after being informed of the same.
Thomas Tuchel’s forward line has struggled to net a considerable amount of goals this season. Record signing Romelu Lukaku is yet to replicate his Inter Milan form, and Timo Werner hasn’t put up consistent performances.

Signing Vlahovic could have been a significant boost to the Chelsea squad that lacks an infallible scorer at this point in time. But having already spent a lot of money in Lukakau in the summer, the Blues could find themselves hard-pressed to make a move for Vlahovic.
The Blues might need to rebuild a new-look rearguard if four of their defenders decide to end their affiliation with the club in the summer. Going big on Vlahovic could very well limit their resources to do so should the need arise.
