Chelsea to hold talks with Lokomotiv Moscow over loanee Tino Anjorin after departure of Ralf Rangnick to Manchester United
According to football.london, Chelsea are set to hold talks with Lokomotiv Moscow over the future of Tino Anjorin after Ralf Rangnick decided to join Manchester United.
The 20-year-old suffered for first-team minutes last season, as he played the majority of the games with the U-23 side. However, he was convinced by Rangnick to join the Russian club in the summer.
The move included a £17million option to sign the player in January. The youngster performed well for the club instantly, as he scored in the opening game of the Europa League against Marseille before impressing against Lazio in the following game-week.
However, he broke a metatarsal in his foot in training a couple of months ago and has been undertaking his rehabilitation at Cobham. But the Blues are set to hold talks with the Russian club after Rangnick, who was their head of sports and development, left to join Man United.
The German is thought to be a fan of the youngster, and his departure has affected this move significantly. The starlet, however, wants to return to the Markus Gisdol-led side and complete his season before joining up with the Blues next summer.
The next Cobham star?
The Englishman was given chances to play in the first team under Frank Lampard. Thomas Tuchel also admires the youngster and wanted to give him chances to play for him in pre-season. However, an injury prevented that as the young star missed out on the warm-up games.
Regardless, first-team minutes were needed this season for him to develop to his full potential. His terrific start in Moscow is a testament that he does have the talent. But he needs to continue pulling off such performances consistently.
He has time on his side and could become the next star that comes out of Cobham. Reece James, Mason Mount, and several others have shined for the first team in the past two years, and Anjorin could be next in line.
