Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel lauds the bravery of Jorginho to play through back pain

According to the post-match comments as quoted by the Independent, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has revealed that Jorginho put his body on the line to accumulate a massive victory for the Blues. 

Chelsea played against Leeds last night, and the game was quite eventful from start to the end. Jorginho performed incredibly well and helped West Londoners to a vital 3 points.

After Mason Mount’s equalizer in the first half, Jorginho’s penalty gave Thomas Tuchel’s team the lead. A late goal from Joe Gelhardt nullified our advantage before Antonio Rudiger, again, won a penalty, which Jorginho converted. 

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel hailed the Italian for his incredible output and suggested that he took a massive risk to get the job done. 

“Jorginho has sacrificed himself for many weeks actually.” 

The German manager also suggested that Jorginho has consistently featured in games since the last season. After playing in the Champions League and Euros, he also participated in the qualifiers for the World Cup for Italy. Thus, the pressure was evident. 

“He had no pre-season then started the Super Cup game, so I knew we would arrive a point in the season where he would feel his body and not be fully fit.”

The former Dortmund manager also hinted at the incredible professionalism and commitment of the 29-year-old midfielder.

“But Jorginho is Jorginho, and he is fully aware of the situation himself. And he sacrifices himself and gives his very best every single day.”

After Manchester City’s win, Thomas Tuchel’s team was on red alert as they desperately needed a win to remain in the title race.  

This season, the Blues have faced inevitable injury setbacks, particularly with the midfielders. N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic have been sidelined for several games due to their respective injuries. On the other hand, Jorginho has been suffering from back pain in recent times.
