Chalobah drops hint on social media regarding future of 23-year-old Chelsea target

Chelsea star Trevoh Chalobah drops hint over a potential transfer for Jules Kounde

According to Football.London, Chelsea centre-back Trevoh Chalobah has dropped a hint over the future of Chelsea target Jules Kounde.

Jules Kounde has been one of the most consistent players in La Liga this season. This season, the French player has made 13 appearances in the Spanish top flight and has helped his team keep a clean sheet in 8 matches. The 23-year-old centre-back has attracted attention from Europe’s elite teams and could well take the next big step in his career.

It is believed that the Chelsea hierarchy made Kounde their top transfer target for the summer window. However, the hefty sum for Romelu Lukaku prevented them from meeting the asking price of Sevilla. Nevertheless, it seems like the Blues board has rekindled their interest in the player this season.

What next for Kounde?

Amidst such a scenario, Chelsea academy player Trevoh Chalobah has suggested that the Blues could be closing on acquiring Kounde.

The French youngster recently posted a series of photos on his Instagram account by captioning ‘random.’ Chalobah was swift to put up a cheeky reply. The Blues star commented with an emoji representing ‘cold’.

The social media interactions between the two are unusual given they do not share any past moments where they played together or shared a dressing room.

Chelsea’s recent centre back pairing has attracted massive speculation due to their contract situation. Despite reaching December, both Antonio Rüdiger and Andreas Christensen’s contract situation remains up in the air.

Amidst such a situation, Kounde could become a long-term solution to growing concerns. The young defender has proved his defensive solidity in La Liga and could even partner up with Chalobah in the future.

However, even if Rüdiger and Christensen decided to stay at Stamford Bridge, the French international could become a strong backup option for Tuchel. Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta aren’t getting any younger.

Moreover, we let Marc Guehi and Fikayo Tomori leave this summer without really signing a replacement. And given Tuchel likes a formation with three centre-backs, Kounde would add much-needed depth and future-proofing to our defence.
