Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku could push for a return to Inter Milan
According to Mirror Online (h/t Daily Star), Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku is ‘yearning for life in Italy’ and could make a surprise return to Inter Milan.
Chelsea signed Romelu Lukaku in the summer for a hefty sum of money and put faith in the Belgian star to lead the line. But the move hasn’t turned out well for Thomas Tuchel’s team as the forward has failed to live up to the expectations at Stamford Bridge. The 28-year-old has only scored five goals in 16 appearances across all competition and hasn’t considerably improved the Blues frontline.
Lukaku developed himself into one of the best strikers in the world under Antonio Conte at Inter Milan. He put behind the difficult spell at Manchester United behind him and went on to lead the Nerazzurri to the Scudetto last season. With him being unable to reach the same levels at Chelsea, it is believed that he could be eyeing a return.
During the international break, the Belgian star realized that Lukaku was not as happy at Chelsea as during his Inter days. There is no doubt that Chelsea’s forward line has taken a hit this season.
One could argue that injuries have prevented the club’s first-choice strikers from showcasing their best in front of goal. But even when they were provided with an opportunity, they haven’t able to capitalize.
In Lukakau’s case, the Belgian forward is goalless in his last 12 appearances, and his lousy form is impacting Chelsea’s title hopes this season. The Blues’ profligacy in front of goal was apparent in their 0-0 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier today.
Thomas Tuchel’s team has only managed to win two of their last seven games, and lack of goals could be a massive reason behind them ceding ground in the Premier League title race.

Lukaku certainly has a significant transfer fee to live up to. But it could be pretty early to judge his output at this moment. Manchester United made a mistake and the Belgian has shown with Inter that he can be a leading goalscorer for a top side. why he could be a top striker. It would be foolhardy for the Blues to give up on him this soon.
