Liverpool deliver a transfer boost to Chelsea by dropping interest in Antonio Rudiger and Declan Rice
According to Football.London, Liverpool has dropped their interest in Antonio Rudiger and Declan Rice, handing Chelsea a significant transfer boost.
Rudiger has been key to Chelsea’s success under Thomas Tuchel. The German defender has made 169 appearances for the Blues. However, his future at Stamford Bridge is under severe threat as his current contract is nearing an end. Without agreeing on a renewal deal, he has given the discretion to Elite teams to target him.
Liverpool were among a host of clubs who had been linked with the 28-year-old defender recently. However, it is believed that the Reds has decided to back out from their pursuit of Rudiger.
The centre-back played a decisive role in Chelsea’s Champions League triumph last season. This season, he continues to aid the Blues in their multi-front fights for major trophies.
On the other hand, Rudiger currently rates very high in the best defender of the world chart. Thus, Thomas Tuchel’s team would face enormous difficulty in finding a like for like an alternative for the former Roma man.
With his peak performance, the 28-year-old defender can guide the West Londoners in many achievements. Thus, the move from Jurgen Klopp’s team would hugely benefit the Blues.
A Homecoming for Declan Rice?
Ricehas been on the radar of some big teams due to his consistent performance. Chelsea and Liverpool have taken an interest in the player in recent times.
However, it is believed that Jurgen Klopp’s team wouldn’t be eyeing to lure the 22-year-old midfielder in the near future. The Blues’ midfield has been a cause of concern in recent times, making it harder for the former Paris Saint-German manager to deliver anticipated results.

The absence of N’Golo Kanté was already proving to be critical. However, the recent injuries to Jorginho and Ruben Loftus-Cheek have created a void in the midfield which Saúl Ñíguez and Ross Barkley have so far failed to cover.
Rice spent time with the Chelsea youth team and knows the London club’s structure minutely. Furthermore, the English international has been giving some convincing performances for West Ham. Thus, it wouldn’t take much time for him to adapt to Thomas Tuchel’s setup.
