Team News: Chelsea receive timely triply injury boost ahead of Everton tie
According to football.london, three Chelsea stars have returned from injury ahead of the clash against Everton on Thursday night at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are set to take on the Toffees in mid-week as they look to keep pace with Man City and Liverpool. The Citizens thrashed Leeds United 7-0 on Tuesday night while Liverpool are set to host Newcastle United 15 minutes after our kick-off.
Thus, the pressure is on, and Thomas Tuchel would be aware of the importance of the game. Chelsea have had injury issues for the last four weeks, but it looks like those problems could be resolved soon.
N’Golo Kante and Trevoh Chalobah engaged in individual training sessions on Tuesday before joining up with the rest of the squad. However, the game against Everton might be too soon for them.
Ben Chilwell was also put through paces as he apparently started light jogging sessions. The Englishman suffered a partial ACL tear during our 4-0 victory against Juventus last month. But the medical team has decided that he does not require surgery and his injury could heal. If all goes right, the full-back could be available for action in a month’s time.
The news we were waiting to hear
Chelsea nicked the game against Leeds United on Saturday after we were awarded 2 penalties. Apart from Jorginho’s brilliance from the spot, our performance was woeful, as it has been for the past couple of weeks.
The midfield looks imbalanced and fatigued. Ruben Loftus-Cheek has had to play five times in the last 20 days while Jorginho is still nursing a back issue. Mateo Kovacic looked set to return before contracting the Covid-19 disease.
Thus, the return of Kante will be a welcome boost. Trevoh Chalobah also picked up his injury while deputising in midfield against Watford. The young Englishman can now provide depth at the back and in the centre of the pitch.
If Chilwell manages to get through his training sessions without needing surgery, his return would be the headline story. Tuchel has found it hard to find somebody to deputise in the left-back role in the 24-year-old’s absence, courtesy of which it would be good to have the English international back.
Although neither member of the trio are thought to be in line to face Everton, Kante and Chalobah could return to face Wolves on Sunday as we look to close the gap on Man City and Liverpool.

It will be about seeing the game out against Everton before we can start planning for the busy festive period ahead. The frequency and intensity of the fixtures will be high, and it is important that we ensure no player is rushed back before their recommended return date. The last we would want is to aggravate a first-team player’s injury to put him out for even longer.
