La Liga boss pours cold water on former star returning to Chelsea in January

Carlo Ancelotti suggests Eden Hazard wont be sold in January amid Chelsea interest

According to @TomAllnuttAFP (h/t The Sun), Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has suggested that they would keep Eden Hazard for the remainder of the season amid heavy interest from Chelsea.

The midfielder’s Real Madrid move has been hugely disappointing so fare. The Belgian striker has lost his touch and has failed to make a difference at the Santiago Bernabeu. Following his dismal performances, the 30-year-old has struggled to cement a place in the Los Blancos starting lineup. This season, his only 90-minute game in the La Liga came against Cádiz CF on Sunday.

Chelsea are interested in re-signing Hazard and could offer the Belgian a way out. It seems Roman Abramovich thinks the forward can rekindle his flame at Stamford Bridge and the Blues owner will be interested in a deal worth at the most £35m for the midfielder.

But Abramovich has to wait longer to get his way as Real Madrid have no plans to sell their star forward in the January transfer window. Los Blancos boss, Carlo Ancelotti also revealed his intentions to use the 30-year-old in the second half of the season.

“It took Hazard a bit of time to get in the game. He did better in the second half. He is not so used to playing out on the right-wing, but inside he combined well with Karim [Benzema]. He can be another weapon in the second half of the season.”

Eden Hazard was a sensational striker at Chelsea.

Thomas Tuchel’s side signed Romelu Lukaku in the summer. But the former Inter Milan star also hasn’t lived up to expectations at Stamford Bridge. The Chelsea forward’s goalscoring abilities have taken a hit this season, necessitating attacking reinforcements in January.

But Hazard hasn’t been the same player that he was at Chelsea. The new environment and adaptation problems in Spain could be a reason for that. But nobody can say how he will perform once he returns to England.
