Transfer News: AC Milan have joined the race to sign Chelsea target Gleison Bremer
According to MilanLiveit (h/t Football.London), AC Milan have shown an interest in luring Chelsea target Gleison Bremer from fellow Serie A side, Torino.
The Brazilian has been one of the most consistent defenders in Serie A. The 24-year-old has made 17 League appearances this season and was also handed the opportunity to skipper the side.
Bremer has been linked with a move to Chelsea in recent times. But it is believed that AC Milan have now entered the race for the former Atlético-MG defender. However, both teams will have to wait until the summer transfer window to make their move. It appears improbable that Torino will sell one of their key players in the middle of the season.
Four of Chelsea’s leading defenders – Andreas Christensen, Thiago Silva, César Azpilicueta and Antonio Rüdiger, will be out of contract in June. The Blues board haven’t yet found a solution to renewing their stay at the club.
Antonio Rudiger has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent times. The German defender’s current intentions suggest that he is more out than in for Thomas Tuchel’s project.
Andreas Christensen has also been linked with an away move from Stamford Bridge in recent times, and Azpilicueta’s future remains uncertain. If any of the four players decide to leave the club, the Blues board would have to sign a replacement.
On the other hand, there is some concern over Chelsea’s performance in the last few weeks. Thomas Tuchel’s team has only managed to win two of their four matches, and the defence has shown vulnerability in recent times. The recent injury of Christensen suggests that Thomas Tuchel would face massive difficulty in the coming weeks.
Even though Blues recently promoted Trevoh Chalobah for added cover, the youngster needs some grooming to play at the highest level.

By signing Bremer to the squad, Tuchel would be able to bolster his defensive options. But the added competition suggests that the Blues board would have to step up their negotiation tactics to land the Torino star.
