“Pain management”- Tuchel sweating on the fitness of two stars ahead of international break

Chelsea boss Tuchel worried about the fitness of N’Golo Kante and Christian Pulisic ahead of the international break

According to Metro, Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel admitted that he is worried that midfielder N’Golo Kante and winger Christian Pulisic could suffer injury setbacks while on international duty in the coming week.

Chelsea, who are currently top of the Premier League table, leading Manchester by three points. They will travel to Leicester City once club football returns in a fortnight.

The Blues coach revealed that Pulisic continues to feel some pain as he is works back from the persistent ankle in the West Londoner’s Champions League win over Malmo last week. He also came off the bench against Burnley at the weekend.

Pulisic has had injury issues since joining Chelsea.

Talking ahead of the international break, Tuchel said Pulisic is still not 100 percent ready for action. He has called for the United States of America’s football team to use their star player judiciously.

“I hope that they don’t overuse him and are responsible enough. “Christian still feels some pain. It is a matter of pain management. It’s not a matter of re-injury or being still injured. It’s just still painful. He has tried hard.”

Kante was out of action for sometime with a muscle problem as he was unavailable in Blue’s recent wins over Norwich and Malmo. The French powerhouse started against Burnley and played 85 minutes in the draw at the weekend.

Despite the recent injury struggle both midfielders have been called for international duty leaving the Chelsea boss a bit worried as he aims to win the Premier League title with Chelsea.

N’Golo Kante tested positive for Covid-19 earlier this season and has missed few games because of injury.

While Pulisic and Kante are key players for their nations, international managers should give them some leeway given the situation. After all, at the end of the day, it is the player and their club who suffer the most.

“With the guys who come from injuries, it feels a little bit like we take care of them. This is the case with N’Golo and Christian.”

World Champions France takes on Kazakhstan and Finland during the international break while USA faces Mexico and Jamaica as they look to secure a spot for the FIFA World Cup 2022 scheduled to take place in Qatar next year.

The USMNT are currently third in their qualifying group, three points behind Mexico and just a point clear of Canada who sit in the final automatic qualifying spot.

During the international friendlies, Tuchel plans to spend some time away from watching football. Given the hard work he has put in so far, we don’t begrudge him some time off.
