According to the Daily Star (h/t Football.London), Liverpool are interested in signing Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic, who has recently slipped down the pecking order under Thomas Tuchel.
The American international has played only 115 minutes of Premier League football this season. Even though the player suffered from Covid-19 infection and an ankle injury, his lack of game time has made him concerned over his future at Stamford Bridge.
That might be the ideal situation for Liverpool, who are eyeing the youngster. The Reds would welcome the opportunity to add a player of Pulisic’s potential into their ranks.
It is believed that the Reds are preparing for a long term solution for the ageing African duo- Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané who are set to miss crucial games in January due to the African Cup of Nations.
Pulisic’s absence could come as a massive blow to the west London side. Despite featuring in fewer matches recently, the player has proved his worth whenever given an opportunity. The USMNT player scored one goal coming off the bench against Leicester City on Saturday.
Despite having a robust lineup of forwards, Thomas Tuchel can’t anticipate any injuries to his key player. After all, both Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner have been sidelined for the last couple of games. When such a situation arrives, the German manager would need to find viable backup players who can keep up the performance.
It seems the 48-year-old manager is aware of the situation and intends to keep hold of the American player. Despite massive interests from top teams, Tuchel has decided to block any transfer involving Pulisic.
