Transfer News: Blow for Chelsea as Borussia Dortmund are confident of keeping Erling Haaland
According to Manchester Evening News (h/t The Sun), German club Borussia Dortmund are optimistic that the highly-rated Chelsea transfer target, Erling Haaland will not leave them next summer despite having a £64million release clause.
The Norwegian ace is among the best forwards in world football. He has taken his game up several notches since moving to Germany and has scored 70 goals in 69 appearances across all competitions for Dortmund.
He continues to impress and has already registered a total of 13 goals and four assists in 10 games across all competitions this season. As long as he keeps performing, teams of Chelsea’s calibre will continue to be linked to his services.
Dortmund’s head of first-team football, Sebastian Kehl is positive that the striker will snub any approach from Premier League giants Chelsea in the 2022 summer transfer market. According to Manchester Evening News (h/t The Sun) reports that Kehl in an interview said:
“The decision has not yet been made, but I would bet €100 (£84.8) [on him staying].”
The West Londoners were linked with Haaland throughout the summer transfer market of 2021 but nothing materialised on that front. The Blues eventually signed Romelu Lukaku for a club-record fee.
Firstly, his agent Mino Raiola was apparently looking for a staggering £820,000-a-week in wages. Secondly, the Italian agent also demanded a commission of £34million for the 21-year-old’s services.
