Thomas Tuchel warns team Chelsea stars of complacency against Malmo
According to the club’s official website, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has warned his players against letting their guard down against European minnows Malmo.
The European champions will start their game as heavy favourites when they take on the Swedes tonight. Tuchel is demanding the same amount of determination from his players that they have shown over the last few weeks.
Talking ahead of the match, the German is wary of taking anything for granted. Given the nature of the sport, it is better to be prepared.
“We should be prepared and we should be respectful enough towards the game and towards the opponent.”
While the Chelsea boss is aware that Malmo have to play out of their skins to win the game, he is not disregarding the possibility. As long as the Blues do their part, they will not be privy to any unwelcome challenges.
“Matches in the Champions League are about details. You can say Malmo needs an extraordinary performance, and they will absolutely prepare for this.”
The last time the two teams faced in October, Chelsea thrashed Malmo 4-0 and the Swedish side is yet to achieve their first win in the competition. Chelsea are second in the table with 6 points and a win in Sweden will go a long way at guaranteeing the last 16 qualification
The reigning champions are three points above Russia’s Zenit St Petersburg and will want to get all three points at the Eleda Stadion. Chelsea fans should be glad to know that their manager has done his due diligence and is not taking the result for granted.

The West Londoners come into this match after convincingly beating Newcastle United 3-0 in the English Premier League. A second-half brace from right-back Reece James and a penalty from midfielder Jorginho sealed the deal for Tuchel’s Chelsea.
Chelsea have kept more clean sheets (11) than any other side in the competing since the start of last season. The Blues have conceded just five from the 16 games in that period. Tuchel’s side has been built on a solid defence and we could ee more of the same tonight.
