“Room for improvement”- Chelsea boss wants more from his side despite victory against Leicester City

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel claims there is room for improvement despite defeating Leicester City 3-0

Speaking in his post-match press conference (h/t football.london), Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel claimed that his side could have been more clinical in the 3-0 victory against Leicester City.

The Blues won their 9th league game of the season after defeating the Foxes at the King Power stadium. Antonio Rudiger opened the scoring before N’Golo Kante doubled the lead after just 28 minutes. Christian Pulisic scored the 3rd as he finished off a convincing performance.

However, there were plenty of missed chances throughout the game. Callum Hudson-Odoi could have scored twice, while Ben Chilwell could have opened the scoring after hitting the post in the opening minutes.

Thomas Tuchel was happy after the game but claimed that there is room for improvement.

“I thought we could be more precise and clinical in the first half because we played with such effort, had ball recoveries, found spaces with the ball, and, of course, a third goal would have decided the match almost certainly.

“With a two-goal lead you are comfortable, but one deflected goal, set-piece, changes everything. I am happy, but there is also room for improvement.”

Kai Havertz and Mason Mount had their moments but never threatened Kasper Schmeichel. Pulisic also had a chance to score just a couple of minutes after coming on but skewed wide. A victory was needed on the day, but our attackers need to be far more clinical in front of the goal.

Regardless, Romelu Lukaku is closing on his return from injury, while Timo Werner was also named on the bench today. The two strikers could be amongst the goals soon, and our precision in the final third could get a lot better in the coming weeks.
