“World-class talent”- Thiago Silva claims he is a ‘massive fan’ of this in-form Chelsea ace

Veteran Brazil star Thiago Silva lauds Chelsea teammate Reece James

Speaking to the club’s official website, Thiago Silva claimed that he is a massive fan of Chelsea teammate Reece James and heaped praise on the young star.

The Blues have been rampant at the back this season. The three centre-backs have been chalked and changed, but the performances have not dropped a level. The wing-backs have also been defensively astute.

However, their contribution to the attack cannot be unnoticed. Reece James, in particular, is turning heads this season after his incredible performances. The right-back has scored five goals and provided 5 assists across all competitions, with more than half the season still to go.

Thiago Silva heaped praise on the youngster recently and claimed that he could be a world-class talent.

‘I’m probably the right person to ask about Reece James as I am a massive fan of his… He is someone who plays with such personality and great physical strength, but also great strength beyond that, and when you put it all together you have got yourself an exceptional player.

‘That is something he is showing at the moment, but he is still someone who could improve because he is young, and with experience, he is going to learn even more to become a real world-class talent.’

A world-class player in the making?

The Blues have often had exceptional defenders, but we have rarely possessed players with the kind of raw talent as James. Moreover, the English international is only going to get better from here.

At 21, he is already making the Cobham academy proud. Mason Mount already shined for us last season and played a huge role in lifting the Champions League title.

James could be the next man on the block. And although he was also pivotal last season, he is the driving force behind Chelsea’s title charge this campaign and could be the reason behind us winning our first league title since 2017, when current Tottenham boss Antonio Conte won the PL title in his first season in England.

On the other side of the pitch are Marcos Alonso and Ben Chilwell, and the duo’s role should not be overlooked. Before his injury, the Englishman was a constant threat down the left-hand side. For now, we will have to make do with Alonso and hope that he and James can keep doing the good work that keeps us top of the tree in England.
