Chelsea given welcome Romelu Lukaku injury boost ahead of Malmo clash

Chelsea tell Romelu Lukaku to lower his salary demands with AS Roma transfer on the cards.

Star Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku set to make early return from ankle injury

According to The Sun, English Premier League leaders Chelsea are set to be handed a massive boost as their star striker Romelu Lukaku is all set to return from injury after just ten days.

Lukaku, who joined Chelsea in the summer in a club-record deal from Inter Milan picked up an ankle injury during the West Londoner’s 4-0 win in Champions League over Malmo at Stamford Bridge in October.

It was assumed that Lukaku might miss around a month or so following his nasty ankle injury, but now it’s been reported (h/t The Sun) that the Belgian international will be returning after the international break next week.

The former Inter Milan and Manchester United striker will, however, miss the trip to Malmo and won’t be ready for Chelsea’s weekend clash against Burnley. Chelsea currently sit on top of the Premier League table, leading Liverpool by three points.

Meanwhile, there are chances that the 28-year-old might be recalled by Roberto Martinez for Belgium’s World Cup qualifiers next week.

Romelu Lukaku returned to Stamford Bridge for a club-record fee of £97.5million from Serie A champions, seven years after his first spell at Stamford Bridge came to an end.

The Belgian striker made just 15 appearances for The Blues before Everton signed him back in 2014. Before getting injured at Malmo, Lukaku had been in pretty decent form, scoring four times in 11 appearances at the start of the season.

Currently, his treatment has been going well at home and he has been doing his rehab at the club’s training ground. The sooner he comes back for Chelsea, the better. The Blues have barely had troubles without him leading their line but there is no question that his inclusion makes them a more potent squad with a strong focal point in attack.
