According to BBC, Reece James has talked about his feelings surrounding his current situation for Chelsea and England national team. He has emerged as one of the top right-backs in the world following the arrival of Thomas Tuchel.
The 21-year-old has been sensational for the Blues, and his goal output has skyrocketed since the last international break. He has netted four goals while setting up his teammates four times in 12 appearances across all competitions.
The Englishman believes that he is currently in the best form of his life and, it is largely down to his consistent game time. He also thinks that his current form is due to the change in playstyle this season, as Tuchel has made some tweaks to the team.
“This is probably the best I have performed. When you are playing week in and week out, and you are playing well and the team is performing, keeping clean sheets and winning games in style, it obviously helps build everyone’s confidence.”
The right-back has also opened up about the national team situation and said he was frustrated due to the lack of chances. However, he admitted that he understands the circumstance as there is heavy competition in his position with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kyle Walker somewhat ahead of him in the Three Lions pecking order.
“Obviously it is always tough not playing when you want to play and when you feel like you should be playing. That comes with how many good players there are in the team. Trent [Alexander-Arnold] has obviously been at the top for quite a few years, and Kyle Walker as well.
The West London club will need the defender to maintain this form throughout the season to win some trophies. Currently being the league leaders, the Premier League title could be one of them if we can carry on this form till the end.
And James has a big role to play if Tuchel is to land his first league title in England. The young Englishman has nowhere to go but up and if he keeps up this form, he could be a regular in the Three Liones’ set-up as well.
